Welcome to the City of Hammond, Indiana! In this website we hope you’ll find all the information you need regarding our great city, whether it ranges from upcoming special news and events, information on ordinances and licenses, informational and topical blogs, or simply easy access to your elected officials and public documents.
Our recently updated and interactive city website is just one of the many improvements that Hammond has seen during my term as Mayor, but there has been so much more to be proud of in this great City.
2009 marks the City of Hammond’s 125th year as a City, and Hammond has shown no signs of slowing down. The City recently celebrated a five hundred million dollar expansion of the Horseshoe Casino complete with the new live concert stadium known as “The Venue” which brings first class entertainment right here to Hammond. The Horseshoe expansion complements the Entranceway Beautification Project at the north entrance of the City as well as the Wolf Lake and Forsythe Park recreation and ecosystem revitalization projects. The Northwest Indiana Regional Development Authority recently awarded Hammond its largest grant award yet, $31 Million to construct and rebuild recreational activities around Wolf Lake. Hammond has worked hard to showcase the natural beauty that is our lakefront.
My administration has also worked hard to make Hammond a City people proudly call home. Home ownership has always been a major goal, and the nationally recognized College Bound Program launched by the City of Hammond has been a successful part of achieving that goal. Strong families make a strong City, which is why I have used the very successful Hammond Optimist Youth Sports complex as a model for the improvement and expansion of the Hessville Little League Sports Complex. Parrish View, Golden Manor and the newly planned Wedgewood site all provide new housing opportunities in a well established City, while the City of Hammond’s newly consolidated Inspections Department insures a high standard of living for all Hammond’s residents.
In an effort to make our website most informative to the people Hammond as well as prospective visitors to our area, it is constantly changing. We invite you to browse and familiarize yourself with this exciting public access medium. Please feel free to offer any suggestions or request information you would like to see added.
