Hammond Common Council College Scholarship Applications Now Available

The Hammond City Council is once again providing fifteen $1,000 scholarships to Hammond Indiana high school seniors graduating in May/June 2024.

All seniors who plan to enroll in either a two-year or a four-year degree program at an accredited college or university of their choice, are encouraged to apply.

Scholarship applications will be available from April 12, 2024, through May 3, 2024, at each high school.

The following guidelines need to be followed:

  • Applications must be completed in their entirety. Applications missing any information will be returned.
  • Completed applications containing all original signatures of the counselor, applicant, and parent/guardian (if a student is under 18), are to be submitted to the students high school counselor who in turn will be the responsible person for turning in the applications to Lydia McNeiley at the School Administration Building.
  • All applications must be postmarked and received by May 3rd, 2024.
  • All applicants must be graduating seniors from Hammond high schools and current resident of the City of Hammond. Students residing in the Robertsdale area with a Whiting mailing address and attending a Hammond High School, are qualified to apply because they are graduating seniors of a Hammond High School.
  • Families do not have to be homeowners to qualify.

The Hammond City Council Scholarship drawing will tentatively take place at the Common Council Meeting May 23rd, 2024, and the winners will be presented with a Certificate at the Common Council Meeting on a date to be determined. Student attendance on that date is encouraged.
