Rescheduled Festival of the Lakes Fishing Derby

Mayor Thomas M. McDermott, Jr., Hammond Parks & Recreation, & the Optimist Club of Hammond are pleased to announce the date of the rescheduled Festival of the Lakes Fishing Derby that was originally scheduled for Saturday, July 21st from 8:00am – Noon, but was canceled due to the weather.

The rescheduled date is Saturday, August 11, 2018, from 8:00am until Noon at Wolf Lake Memorial Park, 2324 Calumet Avenue. The entry fee is a $1 donation to support the Dowling Park Stocking Program. Children ages 15 and under will receive free fishing equipment, while supplies last. A free kids fishing seminar will be held at 10 a.m.

There will be trophies awarded for the largest catches in two divisions: under 12 and 12 & older. The trophies will be for 1st, 2nd and 3rd places for largest bass, walleye and panfish catch! Trophies will also be awarded for oldest and youngest angler at the derby.

No boats, please. Onshore fishing only. Fishing poles and live bait will be available.
