Public Comment Now Open Regarding Use of Funds for COVID-19 Mitigation Purposes

In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, the City of Hammond amended its PY2019 Annual Action Plan and PY2017-2021 Consolidated Plan to allocate $1,665,837 of Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) and $1,284,396 of Emergency Solutions Grant (ESG) funds received from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) through the CARES Act. The amendment added the response to COVID-19 as a high priority need and the preparation, prevention, and response to COVID-19 as a goal.

The City is seeking comments on the use of CDBG and ESG funds for COVID-19 mitigation purposes. The City will consider all comments received before 5:00 PM on December 21, 2021 before submitting the proposal to HUD. The City will continue to accept comments from the public after its submittal and use public comments to guide and inform possible future amendments.
