Mayor Mcdermott to Throw Out First Pitch at “The Last Inning”

Join Mayor McDermott as he throws out the first pitch for “The Last Inning” baseball tournament on Saturday, May 8 at Dowling Park in Hammond. The tournament, organized by the School City of Hammond, features the baseball teams from Clark, Gavit, Hammond and Morton High Schools. Gates open at 9:30 a.m. with a ticket price of $6 per adult and $3 per student. Parking will be available at Dowling Park and Jean Shepherd Center.

Game 1 is between Clark and Gavit at 10:00 a.m.; Game 2 will be Morton and Hammond High at 12:00 p.m. The Consolation Game at 2:30 and will consist of the losers of game 1 and 2. The championship game will be at 4:30 p.m.

“This is a bittersweet moment for the students, parents, and faculty as this is the last time these teams will be playing against each other,” stated Mayor McDermott. “However, we will have a new school with Hammond Central and a new Morton High School which will bring about bigger, stronger teams representing Hammond proudly.”
