The City Council Monday approved changes to three of its boards as part of sweeping changes to the city’s commissions and boards overall that are increasing compensation and requiring that members be residents.

Monday, the council approved changes in the composition of the Hammond Electrical Contractor’s Board, Building Contractor’s Board and Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning Board, which will require members of those boards be Hammond residents. Under the new ordinances, which underwent a couple of different amendments, two of the seven members of the HVAC board and Electrical Contractor’s board will no longer have to be council members, but instead will be appointees of the council.
