Municipal ID Card

The Hammond Common Council passed Ordinance 9585 establishing a municipal identification card program for Hammond residents. The municipal identification cards will be accepted and recognized by all city departments and affiliated entities as a valid form of identification. Residents must complete a municipal identification card application and submit to the Law Department (City Hall 3rd floor) for approval. Once approved, the Clerk's office will issue the ID card.

How to get a Municipal ID Card

  1. Download and print the application below. Applications are also available at the City of Hammond Law Department (City Hall 3rd floor).
  2. Submit your completed application to the Law Department (City Hall 3rd floor)
  3. The Law Department will review your application and notify you when it has been approved.
  4. Return to Hammond City Hall Clerks Office (1st floor) where you will be photographed and issued your Municipal ID. The card fee will be collected by the Clerks Office.
