Hammond Mayor Thomas M. McDermott Jr., along with the Department of Community Development, the Black History Coalition Committee, and the Hammond Human Relations Commission, will host the 2025 Annual Black History Month Celebration. This event will take place at the Hammond Civic Center, located at 5825 Sohl Avenue, Hammond, Indiana, on Thursday, February 6, 2025, beginning at 10:00 a.m.

This year’s celebration will honor the Order of Eastern Stars 7th District Chapters: Rebecca Chapter No. 39, Alpha Omega Chapter No. 53, Maude B. Herring Chapter No. 57, Wisdom Chapter No. 60, and Prince Hall Masons of the Calumet District Lodges: Prince Hall Lodge No. 4, Lakeside Lodge No. 47, Calumet Lodge No. 49, Fidelity Lodge No. 55, and Steel City Lodge No. 68.
