Mayor Thomas M. McDermott, Jr. and the Hammond Redevelopment Commission are advancing the redevelopment of the underutilized Memorial Park area through a public auction of residential Lots 10 through 37. “Having new housing options available for our residents has been a welcome initiative for the City of Hammond. It is a sign of a healthy community when you see growth, new housing opportunities and new neighborhoods of families where there were none,” said Mayor McDermott.
The auction will take place on June 25, 2026 at 5:30 p.m. on the 2nd Floor at Hammond City Hall, with parcels offered individually and limited to no more than four (4) lots per buyer, affiliated person or business entity. This process is intended to support reinvestment and productive residential redevelopment of the site while encouraging fair public participation.
