The USEPA has announced that it will begin the next sampling phase of the Federated Metals Superfund project. The agency has sent out the letters to residential property owners for properties previously tested in order to conduct follow up testing. Consent forms will need to be completed by the property owner before the EPA testing agent can enter the property.
In addition, postcards will be sent to properties within the initial designated area for individuals wishing to authorize testing. The testing will be free of charge to the property owner upon submitting the completed consent form to the EPA.
Copies of the consent form will be available for pick-up at Hammond City Hall or for download at www.gohammond.com under Departments, Environmental Management, For the Public: EPA Access Agreement Consent to Sample/Take Response Actions FMC Whiting Superfund Site.
