Right of Way Permit Form

Please use this form to apply for a Right of Way Permit.

Please submit plans and maintenance of traffic for review by the Engineering Department and the Hammond Water Department.

Allow a minimum of 5 business days for review. Once approved you will then be required to provide two hard copies of you site plans (with final revisions) to the Engineering Department. Failure to provide this information will delay the permit request approval.

The Board of Public Works and Safety meets every Thursday at 9:00AM in the Council Chambers of City Hall on the 2nd Floor. Final permits must be submitted by noon the Wednesday before the meeting in order to make the agenda. Please plan accordingly.

  • Calling for locates is mandatory, as well as the Street Department Lighting Department 219-853-6431, prior to schedule start date. City owned underground lighting electrical is not covered under 811 and must be called in directly.
  • Please provide any updates to the Board of Works and Safety that would change the scope of work or the schedule
  • Construction is only to be performed between the hours of 7:00AM and 7:00PM unless emergency procedures are being followed.
  • All contractors are required to apply for a building permit with the Inspections Department!
