As part of Mayor McDermott’s Covid-19 task force, the City of Hammond is keeping in touch with many advisors in regards to Covid-19 and posts updates to the website.

Based upon the Governor’s Executive Order for a ‘stay at home’ until April 7th, this week, the following City of Hammond Parks and Recreation and Hammond Port Authority outdoor facilities are all closed until further notice:

  • Playgrounds
  • Skate parks
  • Soccer facilities
  • Tennis courts
  • Basketball courts
  • Outdoor workout equipment
  • Baseball fields, shelters
  • Lost Marsh Golf Course
  • Hammond Marina

Should you need to get out of your house and recreate, the following facilities are still available ONLY if you avoid congregating and abide by the CDC guidelines for social distancing of 6’ apart:

  • Park pathways, trails, and greenways are open for walking, running and biking again with social distancing requirements.
  • Dog parks are also available and people are urged to abide by the rule of no more than 1 person at a time.

Please remember that we are all in this together and need to share our recreational areas so others can recreate to help their physical and mental health during this pandemic. If you’re feeling ill or exhibiting symptoms, please stay home.
