Job Requirements:

  • High School diploma
  • Three – five years experience coordinating events and management experience
  • Computer literacy required, Mircosoft Office, Excel, POS, Adobe, experience with graphic design a plus
  • Knowledge of social media platforms
  • Ability to deal with the public in a tactfully and respectfully
  • Must be able to work nights, weekends and holidays

Job Duties:

Events Duties

  • See from start to finish, set up to tear-down for events at Wolf Lake Park Pavilion. Not limited to…
  • Research & getting contract negotiation for events, reviewing all rental usage agreements and all requirements needed.
  • Setting up workers/volunteers, rentals needed for events, fulfilling contract requirements including outside production & hospitality, booking police & fire.
  • Promotional materials for events.
  • Layout, comprehensive planning, timelines, logistics, details, and schedules for all events.
  • All communication between HPA, COH (when applicable) and artist/entertainment workers etc… before and on-site for events and ensure the highest customer service.
  • Works with COH Special Events Coordinator on COH events (i.e. parades, FOTL, 219 Day etc.)
  • Get all event contract information and W-9 information to HPA Accounts Payable & Board Secretary.

Other Duties

  • Updates all Wolf Lake, Parks & Splash Pad social media, website and distributes promotional material.
  • Helps all Port locations with artists and acts for special events, helps with all port authority advertising and marketing including social media
  • Secures Controller, State of Indiana, Homeland Security and Lake County Board of Health permits needed for Wolf Lake’s events and Venue. Responsible for Emergency Response Plan for Homeland Security.
  • Participate and aid in City events as necessary-coordinate usage of grounds to prevent conflict between groups/Events (fishing tournaments, run groups, EPA training. HPD training, fitness classes etc.)
  • Updates signage & Wolf Lake Security, and HPA Office of alert of Wolf Lake launch ramp closures and ALL events.
  • Weekly Meetings with HPA director.
  • Creates color program for Wolf Lake Pedestrian Bridge and schedule bridge programing.
  • Coordinates with outside entities and attends construction meetings for said entities working at or near Wolf Lake Memorial Park.
  • Accountable for Wolf Lake Events Banks.
  • Works with Park Superintendent on tasks needed. Helps when superintendent may not be available.
  • Any other duties as assigned by HPA Director.
Hiring will be done in accordance with Hammond City Ordinance #8620 as it pertains to the residency requirement.
Position will be posted internally from June 4, 2024 thru June 10, 2024. If the position is not filled internally it will be held open for external applications an additional ten (10) days. The position will remain posted until filled or no more than 10 days.
