Event Details

Hammond Mayor Thomas M. McDermott, Jr., the Department of Community Development, the Black History Coalition Committee and the Hammond Human Relations Commission, will host the 2022 Annual Black History Month Celebration. The celebration will take place at the Hammond Sportsplex Facility located at 6630 Indianapolis Blvd. Hammond, Indiana, on Thursday, February 17, 2022, beginning at 10:00 a.m.

As part of this year’s celebration, we will be recognizing African American Civic Leaders. Those individuals are Chief William ‘Andy’ Short, Mr. Lindsey A. Smith, Renee L. Greenleaf, Councilman Richard L. Hardaway, Anthony Q. Stanley, Sr., Portia Archer, Claude A. Mayberry, Jr., Monica E. Ray and Mr. Paul A. Walker.
