WHAM! ride rolls this weekend

The third annual WHAM! After Midnight Ride returns Saturday and Sunday.

The ride begins at midnight Saturday at the Pavilion at Wolf Lake and traverses the communities, parks and new bike paths of Hammond, Highland, Munster and Whiting before ending back at the pavilion.

Bicyclists can choose between a relaxing, 30-mile long route or a 10-mile route. Registration is $25 via cash or check only and will be available from 9:30 to 11:30 p.m. Saturday.

The rain-or-shine event includes a DJ, prizes and vendor booths. A bike check will be provided by GoodSpeed Cycles at the Cabela’s half-way point. A pancake breakfast by Grillers will be provided for riders at the end of the ride.

Participants can register today at the Wolf Lake Aquatic Center, 2100 Calumet Ave. or the Hammond Marina, 701 Casino Center Drive.

Registration and packet pickups are available from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Pavilion at Wolf Lake, 2324 Calumet Ave.

The cost is $25 per participant and riders can gather a team of 10 or more and receive a $5 discount on each rider.
