Document shredding is open to all Lake County residents and businesses. There is a limit of four paper grocery bags of materials per appointment. Residents can witness the shredding of their personal information. Call (219) 853-6622 for an appointment: 8:30 A.M. to 4:00 P.M.
The Hammond Environmental Education Center and Reuz Station for Arts and Crafts accepts donations of arts and crafts materials. They can be dropped off at Hammond Environmental Education Center, 2405 Calumet Avenue, (219) 853-2420, or Hammond Recycling Center, 625 Conkey Street, (219) 853-6622. This program is for nonprofit groups.
