Hammond’s 125th Anniversary Day Coloring Contest Winners

On April 21, 2009 the City of Hammond, Indiana celebrated its Quasqui Centennial (125th) Anniversary Day. To commemorate this historic day in Hammond’s history, Mayor Thomas M. McDermott, Jr. and the 125th Anniversary Day Celebration Committee held the 125th Anniversary Day Celebration Coloring Contest.

This contest was open to all area school children from grades K through 12. There were three different groups in this contest:

Grades K-5 colored the Hammond 125th Anniversary logo;
Grades 6-8 colored the City of Hammond Flag; and
Grades 9-12 colored a picture of Hammond City Hall.

There were a total of 249 entries to the contest between May and November, 2009.

The winners selected by the 125th Anniversary Day Committee are:

The winners will be honored by Mayor McDermott at the time capsule sealing ceremony on Saturday, November 21 at Hohman & Sibley St. in Downtown Hammond. Their art work will be placed in the 125th Anniversary Time Capsule to be opened in the year 2059. The time capsule will be permanently installed in the Hammond City Hall lobby in December.
