The Jean Shepherd Community Center is a place for everyone in the community to come together to learn about and enjoy athletics, the arts and nature. We strive to uphold the fine traditions of the Hammond Parks Department by providing programs to the Hammond community.

Please note: A $5.00 I.D. card is required for all people using the facility. There will be a $5.00 fee for each membership card replaced.
Disability Policy
In order for a patron to receive the disability rate, they must meet one of the following recommendations:
- Must be receiving SI benefits, or
- Must be receiving 100% VA benefits, or
- Must be certified by a qualified health care provider
Rentals
Facilities are available on a rental basis for sports events, team practices, weddings, parties, meetings and other events. Please call the business office for rate information.
Each court will hold up to 450 people for a party or a bounce house with plenty of room left to roam or play.
Closed Holidays
Please note: the JSCC is closed on New Year’s Day, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, President’s Day, Good Friday, Memorial Day, Fourth of July, Labor Day, Columbus Day, Veteran’s Day, Thanksgiving weekend (Thursday and Friday), Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and New Year’s Eve
Activities/ Events
The Jean Shepherd Community Center strives to provide weekly fun and community-based events for people of all ages. While the JSCC only hosts many of these great activities, please feel free to call us at (219) 554-0155 if you have any questions.
Hessville Community Crime Watch
Learn more about what’s happening in your community! Crime watch meetings are once a month on Thursdays at 7 p.m. For more information about dates, call (219) 554-0155.
Karate Unlimited

Red Cross Blood Drives
The JSCC hosts a blood drive every other month. Please call 1-800-RED-CROSS or go to recrossblood.org, sponsor code ‘jscommc’ to schedule your blood donation appointment.

Zumba
Held on Tuesdays from and Thursdays from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Zumba Gold – Zumba designed for seniors – is on Thursdays from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Cost is $3.
