Mayor Announces New Controller

Mayor Thomas M. McDermott, Jr. announces Megan Flores has been named Controller for the City of Hammond. Ms. Flores graduated from Indiana Wesleyan University in June of 2019 with a Master of Science in Accounting. She completed her undergraduate work at Indiana Wesleyan University with a Bachelor of Arts in Accounting.

Megan is a lifelong resident of Hammond and is currently employed in the controller’s office as budget and reporting administrator. She began her employment with the City in 2012 in the Mayor’s office. In 2013, she became facility manager at the Jean Shepherd Center. In her spare time, Megan enjoys coaching basketball for Hammond Youth Hoops.
“With her combination of experience and leadership skills, as well as her knowledge of the City’s financial operations, Megan was the obvious choice as our new Controller”, stated Mayor McDermott. “Megan is a great addition to our team and I am fully confident in her abilities”
Megan will replace outgoing controller Heather Garay who is leaving to pursue employment in the private sector.
