Job Title: TIF Program Coordinator

Salary: $36,000.00 to $44,000.00 (depending on experience)

    Job Requirements

    • College degree preferred, degree in Public or Business Administration, Economic Development, Commercial Real Estate, or related field; or high school diploma and three (3) years experience
    • Knowledge of economic development principles, practices and techniques
    • Requires knowledge of Indiana redevelopment laws, city policies and ordinances
    • Knowledge of principles, practices, and methods of financing private and public sector projects
    • Proficient in computer use, Excel, Power Point and social networking websites
    • Ability to communicate effectively and deal tactfully with the general public
    • Excellent writing skills
    • Ability to complete tasks in a timely fashion with minimal supervision
    • Ability to learn all department program requirements and guidelines and effectively communicate them to the public

    Administrative Duties

    • Recording Secretary for the Economic Development Commission
    • Record any necessary documents with the Lake County Recorder and Assessor
    • Maintain budgets for all department programs
    • Publish all legal notices
    • Ribbon cutting/ground breaking coordination
    • Maintain daily timesheet
    • Other duties as required or assigned

    Duties and Responsibilities

    • Responsible for the administration of all Economic Development and TIF related projects for the City of Hammond (i.e. infrastructure repairs, rehabilitation projects and redevelopment projects)
    • Research properties for land assembly for development and/or redevelopment projects within an allocation area
    • Coordinates, directs and implements programs and projects that support commercial, office and industrial development; attracts and assists domestic and international business; development of public facilities and infrastructure; small business development initiatives and/or other economic development, redevelopment or capital improvement projects within an allocation area
    • Maintain and update the department’s Available Property database on Zoom Prospector and on gohammond.com
    • Maintain a yearlong listing of new businesses in Hammond, investment amount, number of employees, etc.
    • Maintain mailing list of area developers and national retailers, arrange for distribution of marketing materials
    • Coordinate the department’s yearly Job Fair
      • Secure sponsorships and volunteers
      • Contact companies and confirm participation as vendors
      • Identify new companies each year to participate
      • Secure location, coordinate set-up, and manage the event
    • Attendance/presentation at evening and/or weekend meetings may be requiredon occasion
    • Attend training/educational seminars as needed, some travel may be required
    • Assist with other Planning and Development events/activities as needed
    • Other duties as required or assigned
