Girl Scout troops 10029 and 10261 from Montessori Children’s Schoolhouse earned the Girl Scout Bronze Award earlier this year. The Bronze Award is the highest award Junior level Girl Scouts can attain, and one of three awards that Girl Scouts can earn to help them become knowledgeable, involved and proactive leaders in their communities.

Earning this award shows that the Scouts have made a promise to help others, improve their community, and become the best they can be.

The troops were required to take a close look at their communities and find an area that they could directly impact by educating people and taking action. Troops 10029 and 10261 chose the Humane Society Calumet Area as the focus for their service. They learned about the Humane Society, responsible pet ownership, and hosted a pet supply drive at their school for the Humane Society Calumet Area.
