African-American History Month
In recognition of African-American History month, the Hammond Public Library is hosting a Tyler Perry Movie Showcase each Tuesday in February at one of the library’s locations. All movies are free and popcorn is provided while supplies last. Times and locations vary, so call 219.931.5100 x310 for more information.
On Tuesday, February 15, Hammond Public Library will also have a free program called The History of Jazz at the Main Branch, 564 State Street beginning at 6:30pm. The Billy Foster Trio with vocalist Renee Miles-Foster will present this topic. Call 219.931.5100 x310.
Family Game Nights
Get the kids away from the video games and television and come out to Hammond Park’s Family Game Nights! A wide variety of board games, bean bag games and shuffleboard is offered with concessions available for purchase. Take advantage of this free opportunity to spend quality time with your kids! Parent/Child Sweetheart Dance
Mayor McDermott’s Annual Parent/Child Sweetheart Dance will be held on Friday, February 11 from 6-9pm at the Jean Shepherd Community Center. The cost is just $5 per couple and refreshments are provided. Get a digital photograph of your “date” for only $8 each.
