November Holiday Fun in Hammond

Join us for the 68th year of the Orak Shrine Circus at the Hammond Civic Center!  This Thanksgiving week family tradition truly transcends the generations and begins on Wed., Nov. 24 through Sun., Nov. 28.  Tickets are on sale now at the Civic Center or Strack & Van Til’s Supermarkets for $12, $16 or $18 each, cash only.  Call 219.853.6378 for more details.

Tomorrow night, the Hammond Civic Center hosts Cut Throat MMA, a Mixed Martial Arts event.  Tickets are available at the Civic Center box office.  General Admission seating is $20.  Call 773.491.5052 for information.

Hammond Parks has begun their popular Saturday Recreation Program.  This program is open to Hammond children ages 5-12 on Saturdays from 9:45am until 1:45pm at Kenwood Elementary 6416 Hohman Avenue, and Morton Elementary 7006 Marshall Avenue.  This is a free, fully supervised recreation program and you can register your child on site.  Call Leroy at 219.853.6378.

The Downtown Hammond Council will kickoff the holiday season and celebrate the movie depicting Hammond, “A Christmas Story”.  The excitement begins on Sat. Nov. 20 with activities for the entire family in downtown Hammond at Hohman & Sibley.  Check out for all the details.  Also, the big exhibit of “A Christmas Story” is now open at the Indiana Welcome Center.  This year, the big festival weekend is planned for Dec. 4 & 5.  Some child actors and teacher Miss Shields will be the Grand Marshals of the Hammond Holiday Parade.  A special autograph session takes place at the Indiana Welcome Center to top off the festivities.  Call 219.989.7770 or visit for the schedule of events.

On Sat. The WWE returns with Smack Down Live at the Hammond Civic Center on Sat., Jan. 23 at 1pm.  Tickets go on sale Nov. 20 at 10am at the Hammond Civic Center, 5825 S.
