2020 Black History Month Celebration

Hammond Mayor Thomas M. McDermott, Jr., the Department of Community Development, the Black History Coalition Committee and the Hammond Human Relations Commission, will host the 2019 Annual Black History Month Celebration. The celebration will take place in the Community Room of the Hammond Sportsplex Facility located at 6630 Indianapolis Blvd. Hammond, Indiana, on Thursday, February 14, 2019, beginning at 10:00 a.m.

Hammond Mayor Thomas M. McDermott, Jr., the Department of Community Development, the Black History Coalition Committee and the Hammond Human Relations Commission, will host the 2020 Annual Black History Month Celebration. The celebration will take place at the Hammond Sportsplex Facility located at 6630 Indianapolis Blvd. Hammond, Indiana, on Thursday, February 6, 2020, beginning at 10:00am.

As part of this year’s celebration, we will be recognizing the current African American Law Enforcement Heroes of the Hammond Police Department. Those individuals are Deputy Chief William “Andy” Short, Captain Kelvin Alcox, Officer Enrique Cook, Master Sergeant Boyzie Coulter, Officer Ronald Davidson, Officer Gregory Day, Sergeant Sean Garrison, Officer Albert Hulitt, Officer Arthur Latiker, Master Sergeant Walter Peterson, Officer Crystal Taylor, Sergeant Aubrey Thomas, and Corporal Jonathan Woods.
